Iran jails ex-national team goalkeeper after anti-Khamenei post

Former Iranian national football team goalkeeper Mohammad Rashid Mazaheri has been jailed after posting a critical message about former supreme leader Ali Khamenei. His wife stated that he is being held in harsh solitary confinement in Urmia. Mazaheri was arrested while attempting to illegally leave the country, after describing Khamenei as "only a dark and passing chapter" in Iran's history.
