Iran: New American Sanctions, Threats Against Ships

The U.S. government has imposed new sanctions on Iranian interests, targeting three currency exchange houses to counter the use of yuan by Chinese actors to purchase Iranian oil. The U.S. has also blacklisted a Chinese oil terminal that imported sanctioned Iranian crude oil. Additionally, the OFAC warned of Iranian threats to navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, where payment requests for safe passage have been reported.
