Irregular emigration: Over 1,000 migrants rescued off Mauritania

Over 1,000 migrants were rescued off the Mauritanian coast in ten days, including 194 by the national navy on May 31. The eight intercepted pirogues came from Gambia and Senegal. No arrivals were recorded in the Canary Islands during the same period. The migrants were received in temporary reception centers (CATE) funded by the European Union.
