Algeria-Emirates: It All Started with a Real Estate Project Refused by Tebboune

A real estate project called Dounia Park, rejected by Abdelmadjid Tebboune when he was Minister of Housing, is at the root of tensions between Algeria and the United Arab Emirates. According to an investigation by El Watan, this project concealed intentions of fund evasion. Tebboune also mentioned attempts at electoral interference during the 2019 and 2024 presidential elections, indirectly accusing Abu Dhabi. Additionally, the normalization of relations between the UAE and Israel has heightened Algerian distrust towards Abu Dhabi.
