As Nigeria marks Mental Health Awareness Month in May, an under-acknowledged crisis is emerging. In 2018, approximately 14.3 million Nigerians aged 15 to 64 were reported to have used drugs, with about 3 million living with drug use disorders. In secondary schools and universities, many students are battling anxiety and depression, often turning to substances like tramadol and cannabis for relief. This situation, frequently viewed as indiscipline, is actually a growing public health issue.
