Treasury Reassures Public Over PAYE Tax Relief Plan Despite Absence From Budget

Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi reassured the public that the government has not abandoned its plan to provide PAYE tax relief for Kenyans earning below Ksh 30,000 per month, despite its absence from the Finance Bill 2026/27. Mbadi stated that data analysis is still ongoing and President Ruto has affirmed the commitment. The relief would raise the tax-free threshold from Ksh 24,000 to Ksh 30,000 monthly.
