Cooking gas hits N2,000/kg as HURIWA warns of economic cruelty

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) condemned the sharp rise in cooking gas prices to N2,000/kg in some areas, calling it 'economic cruelty'. The group, led by National Coordinator Emmanuel Onwubiko, blamed government inaction and lack of regulation, warning that the crisis violates the constitutional right to life. HURIWA noted that families are forced to choose between cooking and other basic needs, worsening the cost-of-living crisis.
