Judith Suminwa arrives in Kasaï-Central, expected to address electricity, roads and water

Prime Minister Judith Suminwa arrived in Kananga on October 27, 2026, to follow up on major development projects in Kasaï-Central. Residents are awaiting the effective launch of the Mbombo hydroelectric dam on the Lulua River, expected to improve electricity supply in about 18 months, while work on the Katende project continues. They also want road rehabilitation to advance, including 11 kilometres of urban roads between the airport and Notre-Dame Cathedral and progress on the Kananga-Kalamba Mbuji road, a trade route to Angola. Improving reliable access to drinking water is another public expectation.
