Nigeria, United States Deepen Cooperation on Security, Counterterrorism as Ribadu Meets Vance, Rubio

Nigeria's National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, undertook a three-day working visit to the United States from May 4 to May 6, 2026, where he met with U.S. officials including Vice President J. D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Discussions focused on security cooperation, counterterrorism efforts, and democratic governance, as well as the evolving security situation in the Sahel region.
