The Kenya Meteorological Department has warned that Nairobi, Murang'a, Kisii, and several other counties face a moderate flood risk this week, with heavy rains forecast from April 7 to 13, 2026. Counties such as Nairobi, Murang'a, Nyeri, Embu, Kirinyaga, Meru, and Tharaka Nithi are expected to receive cumulative rainfall exceeding 50mm, which could trigger flooding. Additionally, increased risks of mosquito-borne diseases and waterborne diseases are reported due to stagnant floodwaters.
