Kenya, UAE to Ink Defence Cooperation, Eye KDF Modernisation

Kenya has opened talks with the United Arab Emirates to modernize the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), particularly its defence technology. Led by National Treasury PS Chris Kiptoo and Defence PS Patrick Mariru, discussions focused on enhancing operational readiness, introducing advanced technology, and institutional reforms. The engagement is anchored in the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement signed in January 2025. Kenya (globally 84th) seeks to benefit from UAE's military expertise (25th).
