Kenyan PhD student wins award as global demand for knowledge specialists grows

Gladys Kemboi, a PhD student from Kenya, won the 2026 Young LIS Professional Award, highlighting the growing importance of knowledge management in Africa. Nominated by the Kenya Library Association, she emphasized the need to strengthen mentorship to help African professionals gain visibility. Despite the rising demand for knowledge management experts, structural gaps remain, making it difficult for African professionals to participate in global discussions.
