Kidirа: 400 kg of cyanide seized by police in a trafficking related to illegal gold mining

On March 31, 2026, police from the Special Commissariat of Kidira seized 400 kg of cyanide and 250 kg of zinc during a patrol, intercepting a trafficking of chemicals intended for illegal gold mining. Two traffickers managed to escape, while two others and the recipient of the products were arrested. The products were destined for illegal gold mining sites in Diyabougou and Soréto, with an organized supply chain from Mali. The three apprehended individuals were brought before the public prosecutor in Tambacounda.
