KRA blocks manual VAT export entries, tightens refund claims

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) will block exporters from manually declaring zero-rated goods starting next month to tighten scrutiny on VAT refund claims. This change aims to enhance control by linking the Integrated Customs Management System (iCMS) directly to the iTax platform, eliminating manual adjustments. Exporters will be required to capture key identifiers during documentation, and any discrepancies could lead to the rejection of refund claims.
