Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi announced that the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) will begin monitoring business transactions in real time starting July 1, 2026, through new digital systems to boost revenue collection. The reforms include rollout of revenue monitoring systems, expanded electronic invoicing, enhanced POS integration, and an e-Customs mobile app. Mbadi also noted that over 655,000 taxpayers are already onboarded on eTIMS, enhancing VAT compliance. The aim is to combat tax evasion and revenue leakage through improved transaction visibility.
