KUPPET Threatens Strike, Demands Mass Teacher Promotions

The Kenya Post Primary Education Teachers Union (KUPPET) warned the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) that failure to address their demands could cripple the education sector. KUPPET is calling for the immediate promotion of 135,000 teachers who have stagnated in their job groups for decades, with some waiting up to 30 years. The union also opposes proposals to reduce hardship allowances, threatening resistance to any changes to the existing structure.
