Strait of Hormuz is closed ‘only to our enemies’ – Iran

Iran states that the Strait of Hormuz is open to shipping from friendly countries but closed only to enemies. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi mentioned that restrictions imposed by the Iranian navy could be lifted if the war initiated by the U.S. and Israel against Iran ends. However, shipping companies must coordinate with Iranian contact points and pay high fees, which international law experts argue violate the right of transit passage.
