INEC restores suppressed constituencies in 4 states, fixes June for primary elections

Nigeria's Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has restored several suppressed constituencies in Benue, Delta, Jigawa, and Kogi states, following court orders. Political party primaries for these constituencies are scheduled for June 16-25, 2026, ahead of the 2027 general elections. National Commissioner Mohammed Haruna announced this on Thursday in Abuja, stating that other timelines in the revised schedule remain unchanged. Parties must submit notices of primaries to INEC prior to the scheduled dates.
