China arrests US researcher it says is suspected of spying

China confirmed the arrest of an American citizen, identified as Min Zin, a political analyst at the Institute for Strategy and Policy Myanmar (ISP-M), on suspicion of espionage and endangering national security. Min Zin disappeared on June 3 in Kunming, near the Myanmar border. The arrest comes as Myanmar's President Min Aung Hlaing is set to visit China from June 15 to 19, and follows US President Donald Trump's state visit to China in May.
