Coalition C5 conditions holding of referendum on participation of both Kivus

The new political coalition C5, initiated by Caleb Banza, demands that any constitutional revision by referendum must mandatorily include the participation of the populations of North Kivu and South Kivu, currently under rebel occupation. During a press conference in Lubumbashi on June 3, 2026, Caleb Banza stated that the government must ensure that the inhabitants of these provinces can vote. C5 rejects the exclusive positions of the political class and calls for an inclusive debate, believing that the referendum is the only way to know the real position of Congolese people, especially the youth.
