Court summons Obazee, police commissioner as witnesses in Emefiele’s $6.23m fraud trial

Justice Hamza Muazu of the Federal Capital Territory High Court has summoned Jim Obazee and Eloho Okpoziakpo as witnesses in the trial of former Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele, who is accused of $6.23 million fraud. The witnesses are expected to appear on April 28, 2026, and provide evidence, including newspaper publications regarding the controversial Naira redesign policy. Emefiele faces charges of criminal breach of trust, forgery, and conspiracy to obtain money by false pretence.
