New Zealand court denies bid by mosque mass shooter to appeal conviction

Brenton Tarrant, the gunman behind the 2019 mosque shootings in New Zealand, has lost his appeal to overturn his conviction. New Zealand's Court of Appeal ruled that his attempt was "utterly devoid of merit." Tarrant is serving a life sentence without parole after pleading guilty to 51 counts of murder, 40 counts of attempted murder, and one charge of terrorism.
