Court clears Kano Deputy Governor nominee, throws out corruption case

A High Court in Kano State dismissed corruption charges against Murtala Sule Garo and five others, stating the case was based on a flawed investigation. Judge Sanusi Ado Ma’aji ruled that no prosecution can proceed without a proper investigation, as required by the Administration of Criminal Justice Law 2019. The court also determined that the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission lacked the authority to investigate corruption cases, which fall under federal law. Consequently, the charges were struck out and all defendants were discharged.
