Law Society of Kenya Deploys Lawyers to Secure Release of Maraga and Activists

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) deployed a legal team to secure the release of former Chief Justice David Maraga and other activists arrested on June 8, 2026, during a protest against irregular land allocation in Nairobi National Park. LSK President Charles Kanjama called the arrest an attack on constitutional freedoms. Journalists had their equipment confiscated. Environmentalists oppose the clearing of 76 acres of indigenous forest in the park.
