Libya adopts its first unified national budget in 13 years

Rival legislative bodies from eastern and western Libya have signed a U.S.-brokered agreement to unify public spending for the first time in over a decade. The North African country, still struggling to recover from the aftermath of the 2011 uprising, is divided between a UN-recognized government in Tripoli and an eastern administration backed by military leader Khalifa Haftar. The central bank described this agreement as a significant step towards improved public financial management.
