Police rescue nine kidnap victims on Katsina, two still missing

Nine people kidnapped by armed bandits along the Katsina-Kankara highway have been rescued by the Katsina State Police Command. The incident occurred Friday at about 2:30 pm at Tashar Kanya village when bandits blocked the road and intercepted a red Volkswagen Golf III carrying 11 passengers. Police operatives, including the Violent Crime Rescue Unit, engaged the bandits in a gun battle, forcing them to flee. Two persons, including the driver Aliyu known as Maitakabari, are still missing and a search operation is ongoing.
