Tanzania has closed the Nduta camp, which housed thousands of Burundian refugees, and repatriated nearly all of them, except for a handful of individuals. This decision follows an agreement between the governments of Dar es Salaam and Bujumbura to repatriate around 100,000 refugees by June. By the end of 2025, approximately 142,000 Burundian refugees were hosted in two Tanzanian camps, having fled years of civil war and political repression.
