The Director-General of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Prof. Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso, stated that Nigeria's industrial transformation relies on a decisive shift from raw material exports to value addition and innovation. He warned that without a deliberate move towards deeper processing, the country will continue to lose value and jobs. Ike-Muonso also emphasized that the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) will only be beneficial if Nigeria stops being a raw material exporter.
