Victor Wanyama, former captain of the Kenya national team and the first from his country to join the English Premier League, announced his retirement at the age of 34. He had a nearly two-decade career, signing for Southampton in 2013 before moving to Tottenham in 2016. Wanyama also made 64 appearances for Kenya and stepped down as captain in September 2021 after the team's unsuccessful bid to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
