Ex-footballer Joey Barton denies golf club attack

Joey Barton has denied assaulting a man at a Merseyside golf club. The 43-year-old appeared via video link from Liverpool prison for a plea and trial preparation hearing. Along with co-defendant Gary O'Grady, 50, he is charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm on Kevin Lynch, 51, at Huyton and Prescot Golf Club on March 8. Barton remains in custody and faces a seven-day trial starting September 1.
