Benue Assembly passes Forestry, Mining Commission bill to boost economy, environment

The Benue State House of Assembly has passed a law establishing a Forestry, Mines and Solid Minerals Commission aimed at diversifying the economy and protecting the environment. This commission will regulate the exploration and management of forest and mineral resources while ensuring local benefits. Host communities are expected to benefit from Community Development Agreements for infrastructure such as schools and clinics. Additional laws on road maintenance and electricity management were also approved.
