Yobe Assembly begins process to tackle uncontrolled construction, poor planning

The Yobe State House of Assembly is committed to providing a legal framework to address uncontrolled construction, poor physical planning, and environmental challenges. Speaker Chiroma Buba Mashio stated this at a public hearing on a bill to establish the Urban Development and Regional Planning Authority. The proposed authority aims to coordinate urban and regional planning, improve infrastructure, curb indiscriminate construction, and ensure environmental sustainability. Presenters at the hearing included the Yobe Geographic Information Service, Nigerian Institute of Architects, and Nigerian Society of Engineers, among others.
