The Imo State House of Assembly condemned the National Judicial Commission (NJC) for continuously extending the appointment of the acting Chief Judge. Lawmaker Dominic Ezerioha, who moved the motion, stated that this violates Section 271(5) of the 1999 Constitution. The Assembly called on the NJC to immediately recommend a substantive Chief Judge in line with constitutional procedure. Speaker Chike Olemgbe reaffirmed the Assembly's commitment to the rule of law.
