Despite pay rise, N100,000 salary still inadequate for soldiers — Ex-military officers

Retired Major Muhammad Bashir Galma described the Federal Government's decision to raise soldiers' minimum salary to ₦100,000 as positive for morale but insufficient given the cost of living. Another anonymous retired officer cited shortages of modern equipment and unfair treatment by senior officers as ongoing issues causing experienced soldiers to leave. Defence Minister General Christopher Musa (retd.) announced the increase but acknowledged that military funding remains inadequate to tackle security challenges.
