UNJHRO documents 13% increase in human rights violations in March 2026 in DR Congo

The UN Joint Human Rights Office (UNJHRO) documented 524 human rights violations in DR Congo in March 2026, a 13% increase from February. Nearly 83% of violations occurred in conflict-affected provinces, with North Kivu leading (287 cases), followed by South Kivu (98), Ituri (60), and Maniema (6). The office also recorded 70 victims of conflict-related sexual violence (53 women, 17 girls), with armed groups responsible for 63% of these incidents.
