Cameroon reintroduces vice president position after more than 40 years

Cameroon has reintroduced the vice president position following constitutional changes, allowing the vice president to assume the presidency if President Paul Biya dies, resigns, or becomes incapacitated. Parliament approved the measure with a vote of 200 to 18, with four abstentions. This constitutional revision is the first since 2008, when presidential term limits were removed, leading to nationwide protests.
