Cameroon to tackle fraud in the gold sector

The Cameroonian government has announced reinforced controls in the gold sector starting August 1, 2026. The aim is to collect about 680 million dollars in tax and customs revenue from a production of 17.17 tonnes of gold for 2025-2026. Authorities want to end discrepancies between actual and declared production, while at least 200 companies operate without authorization.
