Former Minister of Petroleum and Foreign Affairs, Henry Ajumogobia, said the Niger Delta suffers from a lack of law enforcement, not a lack of laws. Speaking at the NDDC Law and Development Summit 2026 in Port Harcourt, he advocated for host communities to become true stakeholders, strengthened environmental laws with special courts, an absolute ban on gas flaring with stringent penalties, and decentralized resource governance.
