General Christian Tshiwewe and others appear before the High Military Court

Nine FARDC officers and one civilian, including army general Christian Tshiwewe, former chief of general staff, have been appearing since June 4, 2026 before the High Military Court in Kinshasa. They are charged with conspiracy, treason, desertion, illegal possession of weapons, and incitement to acts contrary to duty and discipline. The accusation alleges a plot to change the constitutional regime by force. Tshiwewe is also accused of illegally holding a war arsenal at his residence, including 92 Kalashnikovs, 12 RPG-7s, and thousands of rounds of ammunition seized in July 2025.
