Federal High Court Chief Judge, John Tsoho issues new pre-election practice directions

The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, has issued the Federal High Court (Pre-Election) Practice Directions (Amendment), 2026. The amendment aims to enhance speedy, efficient, and fair determination of pre-election matters, based on the Nigerian Constitution and the Electoral Act 2026. Lawyers are urged to familiarize themselves with the new directions to expedite adjudication of political cases ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Parliamentary Report: Kong Officials Strengthen Dialogue with Populations

On July 11-12, 2026, elected officials and leaders from Kong department, co-organized with the Mutual for Development of Kong Department (MUDEKO), conducted a tour to report on the first ordinary session of the National Assembly in the sub-prefectures of Bilimono, Kong, Nafana, and Sikolo. Led by Kong mayor and MUDEKO president Tiémoko Abdrahamane Berté, the delegation presented the law establishing the Rural Land Information System of Côte d'Ivoire (SIFOR-CI) and raised awareness on school pregnancies, drug use, illegal gold mining, and terrorist threats. Commitments included fencing of the health center and youth center in Nafana, and rehabilitation of Gbanono and Kôtikan public primary schools in Sikolo.
