Armed forces minister Al Carns resigned on Thursday evening, following Defence Secretary John Healey, over a dispute with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer regarding defence funding. Dan Jarvis, a former British Army officer, was appointed to replace Healey. Labour MP Pamela Nash also quit as Healey's parliamentary assistant. Starmer defended his defence investment plan, stating it will provide the resources the military needs.
