Four Chinese-flagged fishing trawlers were fined R400,000 by South African authorities for violating their passage conditions through national waters. The vessels were also accused of fishing in Algoa Bay before their arrest. Despite this, the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment stated that no fish were found in their holds. The masters of the vessels were charged, and an administrative penalty was imposed.
