Nigeria ranks third worldwide in female genital mutilation

Nigeria ranks third globally in female genital mutilation (FGM), after Egypt and Ethiopia. Ekiti and Osun states have the highest prevalence rates in the South-West region. A three-day capacity-building workshop in Ibadan, organized by the Value Female Network (VFN) with UNFPA and UNICEF, aims to eliminate FGM. VFN's Executive Director Dr. Costly Aderibigbe-Saba urged participants to spread anti-FGM messages.
