FG to evacuate over 742 Nigerians in South Africa before June 30

The Federal Government of Nigeria has assured that all Nigerians in South Africa willing to return will be evacuated before June 30. Foreign Affairs Minister Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu announced that 258 Nigerians were already repatriated on June 11. About 742 more are to be evacuated in the coming days, following anti-migrant attacks. President Tinubu ordered that citizens in danger be assisted without delay.

Dozens of countries warn of atrocities amid escalation in Sudan’s el-Obeid

An international coalition of countries, led by Norway and including Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Sierra Leone, along with 21 other states, warned the UN Human Rights Council that Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) could imminently escalate an assault on the central city of el-Obeid, putting some 500,000 civilians at risk. Ten consecutive days of drone strikes have killed at least 50 civilians and damaged civilian infrastructure. The coalition urged states to pressure both RSF and the Sudanese army to prevent atrocities and ensure unhindered humanitarian access.
