Parliament Approves Funds to Clear KCSE Examiners' Arrears

Parliament approved a supplementary budget of about Ksh18 billion for the 2025/2026 financial year, unlocking payments for teachers involved in the administration and assessment of the 2025 national examinations. Budget Committee Chair Samuel Atandi presented the motion on June 17, 2026, confirming that Ksh1.5 billion is allocated to the State Department for Basic Education to clear arrears owed to exam officers. Other allocations include Ksh3.8 billion for MSMEs, Ksh1.9 billion for youth affairs and the NYOTA programme, and Ksh2.3 billion for another department.
