US-based Bongo rapper Wakazi to pay $38,000 after losing defamation appeal

Tanzanian rapper Webiro Wasira, known as Wakazi, has lost his appeal against a judgment ordering him to pay Tsh100 million ($38,000) for defaming Clayton Chipando, also known as Baba Levo, a Member of Parliament for Kigoma Town. The court upheld that Wakazi's defamatory remarks damaged Baba Levo's reputation in both music and business. The dispute dates back two years when Baba Levo lost his luggage during a trip to the US and Turkey, and Wakazi accused him of theft on social media.
