Women are the backbone of Kenya's agricultural economy but are systematically underserved by support systems. The 2022 Kenya Demographic and Health Survey found that 75% of women own no agricultural land, up from 61% in 2014, and only 3% hold an individual title deed. Agriculture contributes 21.3% of GDP and employs 32% of the workforce, yet Kenya spent close to Sh80.2 billion importing food in Q1 2023. The National Land Commission made women's land rights a centerpiece of its 2024 strategic direction.
