Growing oil theft threatens Nigeria's energy future

The traditional ruler of Upata Kingdom, Felix Otuwarikpo, accused influential elites of being deeply involved in crude oil theft and sabotage of oil infrastructure in the Niger Delta. He called on the media to intensify investigative reporting to expose these criminal activities. Senator Adams Oshimhole also accused retired senior military officers of being behind oil theft. The League of Maritime Editors stated that these allegations cannot be dismissed and that oil theft severely damages Nigeria's economy.
