Legislative and Local Elections: Bassirou Diomaye Faye Consults the Constitutional Council

President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has asked the Constitutional Council for an opinion on the possibility of organizing early legislative and local elections simultaneously. This consultation comes as a dissolution of the National Assembly by end of November 2026 becomes plausible. If the Council approves a joint vote, Senegal could see its first concurrent elections. Local elections are scheduled before January 2027.
