Displacement complicates battle against Ebola in eastern Congo

In the DRC, about seven million people are internally displaced, the second highest number in the world after Sudan, complicating efforts to contain the latest Ebola outbreak. Health workers struggle to trace contacts of infected patients due to population movements. The outbreak comes amid a neglected humanitarian crisis: according to the Norwegian Refugee Council, only 27.4% of needed funding was provided in 2025, leaving over 21 million people without assistance.
